Gerard Lai has over 30 years of experience in a professional capacity the field of human performance and development across a variety of industries in the Asia Pacific region, in multicultural and multinational environments in electronics, manpower staffing, high technology construction, financial services and private & government healthcare at a senior management level.
Gerard brings together a unique blend of assessment/ development/ facilitation/ coaching skills with his rich corporate experience coupled with his strong foundation in human resource management, talent management, leadership development and organisational psychology makes him an ideal resource for designing and creating sustainable organisational development and leadership solutions to help senior executives and teams become the best at who they are — authentic leaders and high performing teams focused on exceptional organisational performance.
He has extensive experience in leading teams through organisational change, employee engagement surveys, designing impactful leadership development programs, and building leadership capability through talent management, succession planning, training & development, coaching and high potential assessment interventions.
He is a strong advocate of bringing enterprise, team, and individual development needs together with a clear goal in mind – to create a culture of accountability for building leadership capability.
With his clients, he makes it his priority to first understand the organisations and leadership’s current state and complex market challenges, which inform the design of programs that align with the needs of the organisation.
His ability to balance academic frameworks and business pragmatism with business acumen in his program design helps refresh their thinking and inspire them to work on opportunities with refined focus.
Gerard also studies into areas that are close to his heart – agile organisation, future of work, artificial intelligent, data analytics, future of leadership, design and innovation, business strategies, workplace culture transformation.
His interest in people and organisation development began when he was in his first leadership role as a people manager in the mid-90s. He had the chance to reflect on what he likes best about working with people and organisation. It was the focus in helping organisations, leaders and employees to explore unknowns, uncover what they are comfortable bringing out in themselves and “never a day less enjoying businesses and people growing to make a difference in their organisation, teams and society.”
