2020 JUDGE’S PROFILE

Phik Ming Lim

Head of Human Resources, Asia Pacific
Temenos

Phik Ming is an outstanding HR professional with over 30 years of dynamic experience.

At 17, she joined Singapore Airlines, which was her first experience in “people business” was not limited to cabin crew duties. She had to also adapt into a new society as Singapore was a foreign land away from family and friends.

To fast-track and excel her career, she embraced ‘people business’ with her authentic and personable demeanor, learning and applying the best in class service excellence and understanding multinationals contacts from the ground up. She was one of the youngest cabin crew who got a promotion in less than three years in the prestigious airline.

In her first ground job, she was the first hire to design and implement a pilot Service Excellence Training program with an international retail company. The program took off with great impact for the business; some of the successful elements are still present today.

Leveraging on her flair for people, she joined Kelly Services to obtain greater insights and hands-on experience of “people business” from the Talent Acquisition spectrum.

Ming harnessed her experience in Training & Development, Talent Acquisition and her close association with HR and business associates to embark into the full depth and breadth of Human Resources leadership space.

In 2002 – 2005, she held a Regional HR Manager role with i2 Technologies. Thereafter, DOCOMO interTouch engaged her as their Global HR Director. After her sabbatical leave in
2009, she joined one of the world’s renowned luxury brand, Bulgari, as their Regional HR Head.

She thrives in a fast paced and highly complex environment, and prides herself in setting up new initiatives, developing teams and enhancing organisational efficiencies.

Hence, she took the challenge when she was headhunted to join Temenos as Head of HR, Asia Pacific in 2011 to oversee all human capital strategies and deliverables in 16 offices.

Her warm personality, cognitive empathy and organisational resilience and agility are qualities that led to her professional success in diverse industries and multi-cultural environment. Retention of talents, coaching and enabling are Phik Ming’s passions.

Aside from her work life, Ming also single-handedly brought up two wonderful boys who are 22 and 19 this year. When she is not at work, she enjoys contributing back to the society, using her expertise with pro-bono coaching and consulting especially with young adults & fresh graduates.

Otherwise, she relaxes and indulge in baking, hunting for scrumptious brunch venues, cycling, hiking or attending her regular Pilates sessions.
